Every town has a front door. Juneau's is a dock, and for thirteen years the town kept a dog at it.
Her name was Patsy Ann. Bull terrier, white, stone deaf from the day she was born โ and she met every ship that ever came into this harbor. The right dock, every time, before anybody on shore knew a ship was coming. Nobody taught her. Nobody could explain it. She just knew, the way the best ones know.
She's chapter two of The Way I Heard It, and as of today the whole story is free. Not a sample โ the whole thing. It's short. It's true, mostly. You'll see what I mean when Captain Chuckles gets going.
Leave your email anywhere on this site and the story is yours on the spot. That's the whole transaction: we get to tell you when the next book lands, you get the best dog who ever held a job in Alaska.
Fair warning. People get attached.
