Tom & Courtney ยท Juneau, Alaska
We're Tom and Courtney Skinner โ stubborn by birth, living in Juneau. The internet's full of fake perfection. We carve out a spot for the real deal: frozen-frontier adventures, fish that fight back, and stories that make you laugh, think, and maybe move to Alaska.
Tom drove a Southeast Alaska tour bus long enough to learn that every story has three versions โ and he's been telling the other two ever since. He writes Alaska the way it actually is: hard, quiet, and shot through with the things men carry and never say. He's the author of the Frozen Frontier novels, the wilderness thriller Raven and Owl, the literary When the Candles Go Out, the desert survival novel The Water Line, and The Raven โ his dry field notes on the several thousand birds who have decided he is scenery. He also carves spirits out of alder with a knife and too much coffee. He lives in Juneau, where he has spent years being studied by birds.
The hazards of the trade โ Courtney's sympathy sold separately
Courtney was homeschooled off the grid outside Juneau, Alaska, where the classroom was the whole Tongass and the lessons had teeth. She wrote her own book before most kids her age finish talking about theirs. She can outshoot most grown men โ and doesn't apologize for it. She runs her own trap line, skins a beaver clean, and for five years running she's been the one who puts every salmon on the family table. When the work's done, she turns the bones into earrings you won't find anywhere else. She's ridden shotgun on Tom's tours since she was small; her official job, on the cover and in life, is keeping him honest.

This is where our books live, where our readers stick around, and where the stories too good โ or too crazy โ to keep to ourselves finally get told. No postcards, no filters โ just the real Last Frontier. Pull up a chair.
